బౌద్ధధర్మ మూలసూత్రాలలో సర్వమూ క్షణికమనేది ఒక మూల సూత్రం.ఇది ప్రపంచం దుఃఖమయమనే దాన్ని స్పష్టం చేస్తుంది. పుట్టిన ప్రతివారికీ మరణం తప్పదు. అయినా ఆశలు పెంచుకుంటారు. ప్రపంచంలో దుఃఖం లేకపోవటంగాని, పుట్టిన జీవి మరణించకపోవటమనేది కనిపిస్తే ఎంతో సంతోషం కదా! అని బుద్ధుడు చెబుతాడు. మానవుని శరీరం వయః పరిణామాన్ని అనుసరించి క్షణక్షణం మారుతూ మట్టిలో కలిసిపోతుందనే విషయాన్ని కవి ‘నాల్గు దశల మధ్య నవయుచు నున్నటి’ అని వర్ణించాదృశ్యమాన ప్రపంచంలోని సర్వమూ అనిత్యం

జాషువ ఈకావ్యం మొదటీ పద్యంలో ఈవిషయాన్నే ప్రస్తావిస్తు,ఈ శ్మశానవాటికలో కొన్నివందల,వేల ఏండ్లగా నిద్రిస్తున్నవారు ఒక్కరుకూడా లేచి రాలేదు కదా అంటు ప్రారంభించాడు.ఇంకా ఎన్ని సంవత్సరాలు ఈచలనంలేని నిద్ర అంటూ వాపోతున్నాడు.ఈ రుద్రభూమిలో తమబిడ్దలను పొగొట్టుకున్న తల్లుల రోదనలతో నిండిన కన్నీళ్ళకు వల్లకాడులోని రాళ్లు క్రాగిపోయ్యాయి అని చింతిస్తున్నాడు. కవిహృదయం చూడండి.

   ఎన్నో యేండ్లు గతించిపోయినవి గానీ,యీ శ్మశానస్ధలిన్
   గన్నుల్ మోడ్చిన మందభాగ్యుడొకఁడైనన్ లేచిరాఁ,డక్కటా!
