English Grammar - Tenses

English Grammar – Tenses

1. Present Tense

Used to express habitual actions, general truths, and ongoing actions.

📌 Examples: - I eat rice every day. - She is reading a book. - They have finished homework.

2. Past Tense

Used to express completed actions in the past.

📌 Examples: - I ate rice yesterday. - She was reading a book. - They had finished homework before evening.

3. Future Tense

Used to express actions that will happen in the future.

📌 Examples: - I will eat rice tomorrow. - She will be reading a book. - They will have finished homework by night.

English Grammar – 12 Tenses

1️⃣ Present Tense

1. Present Simple: Habitual actions / General truths
📌 I eat rice every day.
2. Present Continuous: Action happening now
📌 I am eating rice now.
3. Present Perfect: Action completed recently / life experience
📌 I have eaten rice already.
4. Present Perfect Continuous: Action started in past and continuing now
📌 I have been eating rice for 10 minutes.

2️⃣ Past Tense

5. Past Simple: Completed action in the past
📌 I ate rice yesterday.
6. Past Continuous: Ongoing action in the past
📌 I was eating rice at 8 PM.
7. Past Perfect: Action completed before another past action
📌 I had eaten rice before you came.
8. Past Perfect Continuous: Action continued for some time in the past
📌 I had been eating rice for 10 minutes before the bell rang.

3️⃣ Future Tense

9. Future Simple: Action that will happen
📌 I will eat rice tomorrow.
10. Future Continuous: Ongoing action in the future
📌 I will be eating rice at 8 PM tomorrow.
11. Future Perfect: Action that will be completed before a certain time
📌 I will have eaten rice by 9 PM.
12. Future Perfect Continuous: Action continuing for some time before a future point
📌 I will have been eating rice for 10 minutes by 9 PM.
